Did You Know?
To enhance a person's smile, Veneers are increasingly becoming the
cosmetic procedure of choice because of their life-like appearance,
strength and overall beauty. Veneers are very thin porcelain
restorations that are bonded to your teeth. Often we can complete the
procedure by not taking away any of the natural tooth enamel. This is
commonly referred to as the "no prep" and "minimal prep" veneer
technique. All the doctors at Suwanee Dental Care have years of
experience with this unique type of cosmetic enhancement restoration.
Veneers are used to:
- close gaps between teeth
- straighten crooked teeth (this is generally known as instant
orthodontics)
- reshape teeth
- improve worn or discolored teeth
Veneers can last more than 10 to 15 years and do not stain,
which makes them an attractive option for people who want a permanent
bright smile. Also, the application of veneers does not require
significant tooth reduction.
Bonding is a cosmetic dentistry technique that can instantly
enhance a person's smile. One of the great advantages of bonding
is that it can be accomplished in just one visit to the dentist.
Bonding can be used to:
- fill in gaps between teeth
- correct chipped, crooked or broken teeth
- reshape teeth
Increasingly, bonding is used to fill cavities as it
provides a more esthetically pleasing look than the traditional metal
fillings. It's also a good treatment of choice for instantly repairing
a broken front tooth. Bonding can last five to eight years.
Crowns:
Crowns are caps that cover the entire tooth and are
generally made of porcelain. Crowns can be used to enhance a
person's overall smile. They also are the treatment of choice for
patients who have fractured or broken teeth because they strengthen
and protect the remaining tooth structure.
Additionally, crowns are used for:
- teeth that are sensitive
- teeth that have been weakened due to extensive decay
- teeth that have had a root canal
- teeth that are discolored
The average life span of a crown is 10 to 15 years.
